It's been so rainy I have not taken any pictures of our place or the church so pictures will come soon. For now here is an update and prayers points.
The Details...
~There are only 3 of us on this Outreach and our school leader will join us 3 days each week.
~Our team is working along side a church** doing the following...Leading a weekly small groups (teaching on: Active listening, Re-Newing the Mind, Father Heart of God, Blame, Shame and Forgiveness) and connecting with people within the congregation to do some more one on one types of ministry/discipleship
~Outside Ministry...We will be connecting with an after school program, hot chocolate ministry for the Middle School kids, food pantry distribution, and BridgeTown Ministry (they work with homeless, low in-come families and some other service oriented ministries) .
**for safety reasons, because this is a public blog, I've not named the church we will be working with.
Prayer Points...
~Peace & Joy...we have only been here 3 days and even though we are in America, it is Outreach and it's a big transition and at times it can get overwhelming!
~Wisdom & Discernment...to know who God wants us to really invest into, and to hear what God is saying and doing for each person we minister with.
~Safety & Spiritual Warfare...Portland is a very dark & depression town. There is a lot of drugs, gangs, human trafficking, and we are in an area where there is spirit of pride is very strong. Please pray God's light, truth and safety over us women!
~Attitude of love and confidence...as a team we will be loving with each other, and this will flow into each ministry we end up working with. That our confidence will be found in Christ as we are stretched in new areas and continue to find Him as our strength and identity!
